Ninety cannabis plants were found growing at a house in Sittingbourne after police stopped and searched a car eight miles away.
Officers became suspicious of the vehicle on the A2, near Brenley Corner in Faversham, at about 9.30am yesterday.
The vehicle, which was initially believed to have been stolen, was stopped on the A299 Thanet Way and a large package containing what is believed to be heroin was found.
Joe Smith, 30, and of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug.
Following the arrest, officers went to a house in Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne, and found a cannabis factory, with 90 plants. The property is just yards away from Meadowfield School and Sittingbourne Community College.
Smith was charged with possessing heroin with intent to supply and producing cannabis.
He was remanded in custody and due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
A 30-year-old man, from Sittingbourne, was also arrested in connection with the investigation. He has been released, while inquiries continue.
